Nov 19 – I Myself Will Do It!

“Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken it, and I will do it” (Ezekiel 36:36).

Through the prophet Ezekiel, the Lord gave many promises to the people of Israel who were in Babylonian captivity. He assured them, “I will raise you up again. I will rebuild what has been destroyed. I will make the desolate land fruitful once more.”

But the people of Israel, broken and hopeless in their captivity, doubted whether such a thing could ever happen. Therefore, the Lord declared firmly, “I, the Lord, have spoken it, and I will do it.”

Our God is a God of promises. Throughout the Bible, there are thousands of divine promises. And in every generation, the Lord has fulfilled His word and glorified His name. What the children of God must do is to hold on steadfastly to those promises.

If the Lord has given you a promise, cling to it in faith. No matter how many trials or afflictions that may come your way, never let go of that promise. Never forget it.

When you read about the lives of the saints in both the Old and New Testaments, you will find that they always prayed with God’s promises in their hearts. They pleaded, “Lord, You have said this—now fulfill it.”

Our gracious Lord is not only the One who speaks; He is also the One who performs what He has spoken. “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast” (Psalm 33:9). He is almighty and able to do all things.

Job declared, “I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You” (Job 42:2). If even His intents and purposes cannot be hindered, how can His spoken words ever fail? Surely, He will bring them to pass. He is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind. Would He speak and not act?

Consider the life of Joseph. From his youth, the Lord loved him and spoke to him through dreams and visions. Years passed, and the circumstances seemed utterly impossible for those dreams to come true. Yet, in His appointed time, the Lord fulfilled everything He had spoken—Joseph’s brothers bowed before him, and every word of God was fulfilled.

Dear child of God, Remember: “The Lord let none of His words fall to the ground” (1 Samuel 3:19).

Verse for further meditation: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
