Nov 18 – I Will Heal Your Wounds!

“For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,” says the Lord (Jeremiah 30:17).

Many illnesses arise from worries, fears, and sleeplessness. When people are deeply hurt by the injustices and cruelties of others, their hearts ache, and they also get affected physiologically. Irrespective of the extent of medications that the doctors may prescribe, the sickness of the body will not fully heal until the inner wounds are cured. The absence of inner peace is often the true cause.

The Lord brings healing not only to our bodies but also to our souls and spirits. He is the One who heals the wounds of the heart.

The primary mission of Mother Teresa’s ministry was to bring comfort to wounded hearts. As the divine love of Jesus was revealed through their ministry, the inner wounds of the people began to heal. A spirit of forgiveness arose toward those who had caused them pain. And when they accepted Jesus, the joy of salvation brought complete healing to their body, soul, and spirit.

Both ministers of God and doctors are engaged in the work of healing. Ministers study the Word of God and bring divine healing through Scripture. Doctors study medical science and bring healing through medicine. Yet there is a significant difference between the two.

Servants of God focus first on a person’s soul. Only after divine joy and peace fill the soul does bodily healing follow. This is why Apostle John wrote, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2). Yes, above all, your soul must prosper!

For the soul to live and prosper, sin within the soul must be cleansed. It must be washed and purified by the blood shed on Calvary. That is why Psalmist David first said, “God forgives all your iniquities,” and then added, “He heals all your diseases, and redeems your life from destruction” (Psalm 103:3–4).

Tell the Lord the condition of your soul. Forgive from your heart those who have hurt you so that your inner wounds may be healed. Then your physical sickness will also be healed. You will enjoy divine health.

Dear child of God, today the Lord gives you a promise: “I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26).

Verse for further meditation: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:17).
