Nov 16 – WELLSPRING OF WISDOM !

“The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook” (Proverbs 18:4).

King Solomon, whose wisdom was greater than all the wise men of the world; compares wisdom to a spring and a flowing river. Indeed, the wisdom of God flows from the river of heaven.

There is worldly wisdom and spiritual wisdom. And God grants all wisdom unto His children. Although you should be without guile like the doves, you should also be wise as serpents.

You need wisdom even for performing minor tasks. If you speak and do things wisely, you will never need to regret later for any of your words or actions. Our Lord Jesus never had to take back any of His words or apologise for any of His statements. It was because He spoke every word, through the wisdom of God. And He is also the wellspring of your wisdom.

The Scripture says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

A kingdom may have a vast multitude of soldiers in its army, and much weapons and ammunition. But if they do not have a wise war strategy, then even the vast army, weapons and ammunition will be of no use at the warfront. Someone may have read may books and could have obtained many degrees. But if he does not have the wisdom to apply that knowledge, that education is of no use. Children of God, cling on to God’s wisdom and His counsels.

You will always have some people trying to find fault with you. Satan also roams around looking for opportunities to find fault, to accuse and to throw you down by your words and actions. That is why you need the spirit of wisdom to help you respond to situations in a wise manner.

Many Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes plotted how they might entangle and find fault with Lord Jesus. They asked numerous questions to Him; whether it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar (Matthew 22:15-22), whether they should stone to the death the woman caught in adultery (John 8:4-5). But when the Lord responded to them with God’s wisdom, they all marvelled and dared not to ask any more questions. Indeed, the Lord has promised such wisdom to all of us also; the wisdom that cannot be challenged.

Verse for further meditation: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy” (James 3:17).
