Nov 10 – Going Out and Coming In!

“The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” (Psalm 121:8)

Life itself is made up of going out and coming in. In the morning we go out to work; in the evening we return home. We attend celebrations and gatherings of friends and relatives — and come back. We travel to many towns and cities — and return again. Yes, throughout our lives, we always go out and come in.

In this modern age, when road accidents have drastically increased, we often wonder whether those who leave home will return safely. We see so many vehicles wrecked along the way.

Recently, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London met with a tragic accident just minutes after take-off, crashing into a residential area. Except for one passenger, all others — passengers, crew, and pilots — lost their lives. When they left home, they would never have imagined that this would be their final journey.

But when we pray earnestly for the Lord’s protection, He gives us this precious promise: “The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” He not only protects us but also delights to bless us.

“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.” (Deuteronomy 28:6). “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Wherever you go, begin with prayer. Commit your journey into God’s hands before you set out. Then the Lord will command His angels to keep you in all your ways. His presence will go with you.

Because the Lord blessed David’s going out and coming in, even Achish, king of the Philistines, testified about him saying, “Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight.” (1 Samuel 29:6)

When the Lord is with you, your going out and coming in will surely be blessed. Wherever you go, the presence of God will accompany you. The Lord of Hosts Himself will go before you, and thousands upon thousands of angels will go with you. The work you set out to do will prosper, and the Name of the Lord will be glorified in every place you go.

Dear child of God, the Lord will most certainly bless your going out and your coming in forevermore.

Verse for further meditation: “For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.” (Psalm 18:29)
