Nov 09 – The Lord Will Keep You!

“The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.” (Psalm 121:6–7)

The Christian life is not a bed of roses, nor is it a comfortable mattress. Our Lord Himself said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

And King David declared, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19)

Yes, our Lord is mighty to protect us in every circumstance. He assures us: “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The Lord watches over us both day and night. The day signifies the time when we are actively engaged in our work; the night signifies the time when we rest and sleep. Whether we are working or resting, strong or weak, the Lord guards us constantly. He keeps us safe from the dangers of the day and from the hidden snares of the night.

He protects us from the sun and the moon. Someone once said, “The sun harms openly; the moon deceives quietly.” In the same way, there are situations that openly challenge us like the scorching sun, and other times that come gently like moonlight, appearing pleasant yet bringing harm. But the Lord is able to keep us safe through them all.

He guards us in our going out and coming in. We leave our homes for work or travel, and return seeking rest and peace. Often, we may feel anxious wondering what the day might bring. Yet, the Lord goes before us, saying, “My Presence will go with you.” He watches over us as the apple of His eye, both in our going and our returning.

By day or by night, under the sun or the moon — He preserves us forever. Whether in life or even in death, He keeps us safe. That’s why the psalmist confidently said,

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

We often sing, “You are the Beginning and the End; You are my Light, You are my All.” Indeed, we rest secure in the very palm of God’s hand — a hand so strong and radiant that no one can snatch us from it.

Verse for further meditation: “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28)
