Nov 09 – FOUR RIVERHEADS !

“Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads” (Genesis 2:10).

One river went out of Eden and it got divided into four riverheads, and flowed in four different directions. Just like the Lord assigned a purpose for each of those riverheads, He has a specific purpose for your spiritual life. As the river in Eden divided into four branches, there are four obligations for the anointed servants of God.

Our Lord Jesus said; “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). You should live as witnesses in all the four regions mentioned in this verse, namely: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the end of the earth.

Firstly, Jerusalem. ‘Jerusalem’ means ‘peace’; and it points to you and your family. When the Holy Spirit comes in you, it floods your heart like a river; with the peace of God. The Scripture says; “Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:18).

Your life will be enriched with divine peace, to the extent you are filled with the Holy Spirit. As you receive that divine peace, you should also proclaim the gospel, which has paved way for the peace of God. The Scripture says; “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7).

Secondly, Judea. ‘Judea’ means ‘Praise of God’. When Leah gave birth to her fourth son, she said; “Now I will praise the Lord.” Therefore, she called his name Judah” (Genesis 29:35). Praising God should be the basic obligation for every anointed child of God.

Thirdly, Samaria. ‘Samaria’ points to the backslidden people of God. The term ‘Samaria’ means ‘Watch Tower’. As an anointed servant of God, you have an obligation to stand as a watch tower and pray with commitment for the people of God.

Fourthly, to the end of the earth. This expression refers to the Gospel Outreach; reaching the unreached, proclaiming the gospel of salvation and bringing them to the Lord. Children of God, will you make a firm commitment to go in all four directions and carry out your ministry for the Lord?

Verse for further meditation: “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28:20).
