Nov 07 – RIVER OF TEARS !

“His eyes are like doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set” (Song of Solomon 5:12).

The eyes of our Lord Jesus are like those of the dove; dove that dwells by the rivers. When you look at the eyes of a dove; they always seem brimming with tears. Its call for companion sounds like a sorrowful weeping. The reason for comparing the eyes of our Lord to those of a dove by the rivers; is because of His compassion. He was a prayer warrior who prayed with tears.

The Scripture tells us of three instances when the Lord shed tears. First, Jesus wept by the tomb of his friend Lazarus (John 11:35). Secondly, we see Him weeping for the city of Jerusalem; the great city called as the ‘City of God’ (Luke 19:41). He lamented over Jerusalem saying; “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!”

In the third instance, He cried out in the Garden of Gethsemane. “Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear” (Hebrews 5:7).

When our Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit; the heavenly dove comes in you, you are filled with a spirit of supplication. The same heavenly dove who anointed Lord Jesus, has also anointed you; and you are filled with the compassion of Christ and the spirit of prayer.

All those who learn to pray with tears, receive blessings and answers to their prayers. When Hagar cried out, she was able to see the fountain of water; the fountain of blessing – which quenched the thirst of her son.

Jude writes about praying in the spirit, as follows. “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 20-21).

Children of God, make a resolution to pray with the Holy Spirit, and you will be able to pray for a long duration. It will pave way for you to pray with compassion and according to the will of God.

Verse for further meditation: “Like a crane or a swallow, so I chattered” (Isaiah 38:14).
