Nov 01 – RIVER THAT ENRICHES !
“Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads” (Genesis 2:10).
How great is the love of our God! He created the whole world for the benefit of humans. He created Eden in this world and established a beautiful Garden within Eden. The term ‘Eden’ means gladness of heart.
The Lord who created man, also brought into existence different kinds of fruit-bearing trees, plants and vines, in the midst of Eden , to make him happy and joyful. And man, also enjoyed close communion with the Lord.
You can imagine the whole wide world, with Eden in its midst, and a garden within Eden. In the same manner, within the body of a man, there is a soul and a spirit. The World corresponds to the Body, Eden to the Soul, and the Garden in its midst to the Spirit.
God also formed a river to water and nurture and enrich the garden. The name of that river is not mentioned. The Scripture only mentions about that river parting into four riverheads.
I believe that river should be a super-natural river, as there was gold throughout the course of that river. Bdellium and the onyx stone were there (Genesis 2:11-12). If it were a normal river, it would have produced only paddy, wheat, barley and the like.
If that be the case, what is the name of thar river? Even King David was not aware of its name. He only mentioned: “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4).
It was only Lord Jesus who revealed the secret about that river. “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:38-39).
Holy Spirit is that super-natural river, who is sent from God to nurture your spiritual life. He resides in your spirit and enriches your soul and body.
Children of God, look unto that heavenly river. Let that river fill your hearts and minds today, and bring in the presence of God and gird you with divine strength. May your dry and thirsty life be made fertile and enriched by the river of Holy Spirit. May the Lord transform your life to a life that produces bdellium and onyx, through His Spirit!
Verse for further meditation: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2).
