May 14 – IN THE DARK CLOUD !
And the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud…” (Exodus 19:9)
There is a blessing that comes out of thick cloud. Blessing comes forth even from the depths of darkness. Even amidst dark and gloomy circumstances, He can bring forth the ray of light. Indeed, He is the One who created the sun, and the moon and the stars, to light up the world immersed in darkness!
It is a great blessing in Christian life, that in times of great struggle, the Lord marvellously opens up the way and strengthens you with His power. When you walk through tears and struggles, it brings you closer to Lord Jesus. Those who walk closely with the Lord, will know this truth.
The spiritual lessons that you learn through tribulations and in the path of pitch darkness, are more precious than the ones you learn in the days of your prosperity and abundance. Remember the Lord’s words to Moses: “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud…”. You can imagine the Lord appearing in the thick clouds.
When the lightnings strike, and the thunders storm your heart, the dark clouds will only worsen the situation. It looks like you are surrounded by tribulations and persecutions from all sides.
But even amidst such a situation, the Lord says He will come to you in the dark cloud, and promises to give you the treasures of darkness. What a great promise that is!
Richard Umbrand, a great minister of the Lord, was sentenced to prison for fourteen long years and had to go through unbearable tribulations, and suffer cruel treatment for the sake of his faith on the Lord. Later, he recorded about experiencing the love and comfort from the hand of God, whenever he was afflicted and beaten by the prison authorities. He says, the kind of love that he received from the Lord under such tribulation, was thousand times greater.
Children of God, the Lord who appeared unto Moses in thick cloud, is eager to appear to you and comfort you, even amidst the dark-cloud of your tribulations. And you can feel His presence descending upon you, like a cloud descending on a mountain.
Verse for further meditation: “I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins” (Isaiah 44:22)
