Mar 14 – One Another !
“You shall love one another” (John 13:34).
Christ’s loving command, “love one another,” appears repeatedly—twelve times—in the New Testament. Does not every loving father desire that his children live in love, unity, and peace with one another?
Our Lord said: “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). Again He said: “These things I command you, that you love one another” (John 15:17). And also: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
How clearly and repeatedly Lord Jesus emphasized love for one another!
Christianity, often called the way of love, today is sadly marked by divisions. Church against church. Minister against minister. It is so tragic to see that in many places, elders and servants of God are seen in courts and police stations over disputes. The root cause is that divine love has diminished, and selfishness has taken its place. We are duty-bound to pray, “Lord, forgive our lack of love; pour Your divine love into our hearts.”
False teachings have also caused divisions within churches. Pride and a love for display have split congregations into groups. Yet our loving God continues to endure all this patiently.
We are the disciples of the Lord—His believers. Are we not called to be as loving as He was? Should not the character and nature of Christ be formed within us? Should not His love, compassion, and mercy be evident in our lives?
Let us yield ourselves fully to the control of the Holy Spirit and allow Christ’s love, tenderness, and all His divine qualities to grow within us. Let us surrender so that the nature of Christ may be perfectly formed in us. Only then can we lead others into the fullness of Christ’s love.
Let us not divide ourselves as strong church, weak church, large church, small church, wealthy church, poor church, full gospel church, half-gospel church, bride church, or church for the destitutes. Instead, let us recognize that we are all redeemed by the same precious blood of Christ, refreshed by the same Spirit, and have one God the Father. Let us move forward in unity as the family of the Lord.
Verse for further meditation: “Add to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love” (2 Peter 1:7).
