Apr 12 – He Will Come Like the Rain!
“Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the former and latter rain to the earth.” (Hosea 6:3)
Our Lord will come to us. How will He come? He will come to us like the refreshing rain, like the latter rain that brings renewal and life. What a wonderful promise! What a glorious hope we have!
He dwells in the heavens, while we live on the earth. Just as rain descends from the heights above, so He will come down to the earth. From the highest heavens He comes down toward us, His children who live on the earth. What a great joy this brings!
When rain falls, the dried-up ponds and reservoirs begin to fill, and they start flowing like rivers. Because He is the One who fills all things everywhere, the lakes become full and overflow through their channels, bringing abundance and prosperity to the land.
Rain that comes from the distant heavens reaches the earth and mingles with the soil, flowing as living water. In the same way, Jesus, who dwells in the highest heavens, came down to the earth for our sake. On Calvary’s cross He was crushed and poured out for us. He shed His precious blood completely. His blood flowed on Calvary’s hill, red and life-giving for us. It cleanses us and removes our sins, curses, and diseases.
Rain is not only a symbol of the blood of Calvary; it is also a symbol of the Holy Spirit. In these last days, the Lord is pouring out His Spirit like the latter rain. The Lord has indeed promised and said: “I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh”?
Without distinction, the Lord is pouring out His anointing upon the Church. Before the coming of the Lord, there will surely be a great outpouring of the latter rain. Whoever waits with thirst for that rain, upon them He will come like the former and the latter rain.
What is it that enriches a person’s spiritual life? What is it that brings glorious fruit in the lives of believers? It is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches us the deep things of Scripture and enriches our souls.
Children of God, let us thirst for the anointing of the Lord! Let us look to Him with longing and pray, “Lord, as You have promised, come upon us like the rain. Command a great revival within our hearts. Come, O Lord!”
Verse for further meditation: “He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth. In His days the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.” (Psalm 72:6–7)
