Apr 08 – Lebanon!
“You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you. Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon…” (Song of Solomon 4:7–8).
The Song of Solomon is a book filled with deep spiritual experiences. When Solomon was young, he walked closely with God. He pleased the Lord and offered many sacrifices to Him. Therefore, the Lord granted Solomon extraordinary wisdom.
It was this great wisdom that enabled Solomon to write the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. The Song of Solomon beautifully portrays the intimate relationship between Christ and the Church, expressed through the deep love between a bridegroom and a bride.
The word Lebanon means white mountain. The mountainous region located to the northwest of Israel is called Lebanon. Mount Hermon is found there. Because the summit of this mountain is covered with snow, it received the name white mountain.
Lord Jesus, the lover of our souls calls us with all the love, and says, “Come with Me from Lebanon.” The secret of this call is that we should come to Him in pure holiness, spotless and undefiled, like a bride prepared for her bridegroom. At His coming, the Lord will gather His holy ones to Himself. The Lord says: “Gather My saints together to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice” (Psalm 50:5).
In the Christian life, holiness is extremely important. Because our Beloved is holy, we too must be holy. The apostle Peter writes: “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’ ” (1 Peter 1:15–16).
Today, all the signs of Christ’s coming are being fulfilled rapidly. Many prophecies have already come to pass. The events taking place in the world clearly indicate that the coming of the Lord is very near.
Therefore the Lord urgently calls to us: “Till the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh And to the hill of frankincense. You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you. Come with Me from Lebanon, my spouse, with Me from Lebanon” (Song of Solomon 4:6–8).
Children of God, will you sanctify yourselves and prepare for the coming of the Lord?
Verse for further meditation: “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).
