Jul 28 – In God’s Presence!

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

The term “presence of God” has been translated in Tamil in various ways — such as divine presence, communion with God. But whatever the expression, the privilege of abiding in God’s presence and experiencing it richly is a great blessing in a believer’s life.

A young woman entered the home of her husband, upon marriage. But instead of being welcomed with joy, she was treated harshly by her in-laws. Even her husband showed her little love or care. The devil used this situation to bring deep discouragement and depression into her life. She began to move about like a lifeless person.

One day, in that broken state, she attended church. After the service, she poured out her heart to one of the Lord’s servants. The minister gently encouraged her, saying, “Dear sister, do not be disheartened whether others appreciate you or not. The Lord sees everything you do for your family. He appreciates you. He loves you deeply. His grace is poured out on you without measure. He has loved you more than His own life.”

Then he added, “Before you begin your household work each day, take a moment to kneel down and pray, saying, ‘Lord, thank You for this home You’ve given me. Thank You for the beautiful family You’ve placed me in.’ Welcome the Lord’s presence into your day.”

From that day on, the sister began to pray faithfully before starting her day, and she experienced God’s presence in an overflowing measure. She became aware that the Lord was with her, watching over her, and delighting in her. One day, after she had finished her work, she heard the Lord whisper softly, “Well done my daughter!”, and her heart was filled with indescribable joy.

Dear child of God, our Lord is the One who appreciates us. He is the One who says, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things.” Remember: God watches over you every moment, and He delights in you.

Verse for further meditation: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” (Psalm 100:4–5)
