Jul 17 – He Will Come Like Rain!
“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to know Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:3)
Our God dwells in the highest heavens, while we live here on earth. Yet, just like rain descends from above, He comes down from the heights toward us, His children who live on the earth. O how glorious it is!
When the rain comes down, dry and empty ponds fill up, and the water flows as streams. He is the One who fills all things in every way — so even dams overflow, and the waters bring abundance to the land.
The rain that falls from distant clouds mingles with the soil and becomes part of the earth. In the same way, Jesus came down from heaven to dwell with us. On Calvary’s cross, He was broken and poured out for our sake. He shed His precious blood in full — flowing as a crimson river down that hill, washing away our sins, curses, and diseases, and cleansing us completely.
Rain is not only a symbol of Calvary’s blood, but also a symbol of the Holy Spirit. In these last days, the Lord is pouring out His Spirit like the latter rain. Did He not promise, “I will pour out My Spirit on all people”?
Regardless of denomination or background, God is pouring out His anointing on the Church. Before His return, there will be a mighty outpouring of this latter rain. Those who thirst for it and wait eagerly will surely experience the former and latter rains together.
What causes a person’s spiritual life to flourish? What brings forth glorious fruit in the life of a believer?
It is the anointing of the Holy Spirit — He teaches us the deep things of Scripture and nourishes our souls.
Dear child of God, will you thirst for the anointing of the Lord? Will you look to Him with longing and say: “Lord, as You have promised, come down upon us like the rain! Let revival break forth in our hearts. Come, Lord!”
Verse for further meditation: “He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. In His days the righteous will flourish; peace will abound till the moon is no more.” (Psalm 72:6–7)
