Jul 16 – The Mighty God!
“But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail.” (Jeremiah 20:11)
The Lord is a mighty God. The prophet Jeremiah describes Him as mighty and awesome warrior. Yes, though He is loving toward us, He wages war with great might against those who oppose us. That’s why those who seek to harm us will never succeed.
The Lord is always on our side — ever present with us. And today, God says to you: “My son, those who have persecuted you so far cannot continue to do so anymore. I am with you as a mighty warrior!”
I know of a brother who once worked abroad and returned to his hometown in India as a wealthy man. But due to his success, many began to oppose him without cause. Some even went to the extent of using witchcraft to prevent him from living in the house he had newly built. However, he clung firmly to the Lord. Even though the enemies kept trying again and again, none of their attempts succeeded. Eventually, they became disheartened. In fact, the very power of their evil plans turned back upon them.
How true is the Word that says: “Whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye.” (Zechariah 2:8)
Our God is the embodiment of love — the Lamb. But He is also the Lion of Judah!
He is the Lord of Hosts, the Mighty Warrior. He declares: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17). And He is passionate about destroying every weapon raised against you.
Scripture also says: “His wisdom is profound, His power is vast. Who has resisted Him and come out unscathed?” (Job 9:4). God is like a rock. Only those who come against Him, will be crushed.
When evil people rise up against you, do not worry or be anxious. Instead, lean on the Mighty God. He Himself will contend for you and fight on your behalf. He will uphold your cause. He will not allow injustice to go on forever.
Dear child of God, when such a Mighty God is with you, why should you fear?
Verse for further meditation: “The Lord will march out like a mighty man, like a warrior He will stir up His zeal; with a shout He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over His enemies.” (Isaiah 42:13)
