Jul 02 – Rebekah’s Shoulder!

“Rebekah came out with her pitcher on her shoulder” (Genesis 24:15)

Rebekah carried a pitcher on her shoulder. The water in that pitcher was not only for her household. But with that pitcher she could quench the thirst of Eleazar—a stranger to that region—and of all his camels. What a great blessing came through those shoulders! Just pause and reflect on that.

Rebekah’s pitcher wasn’t empty. It was a filled vessel, with water drawn from a deep well. Naturally, it would have been heavy to carry. Yet, because she patiently bore that weight on her shoulders, she was able to bless both her family and even complete strangers.

If so much good could come from the shoulders of a young woman, how much more blessing can come from the shoulders of Christ! He is the source of all goodness, grace, and blessing.

His shoulders are strong to bear all our burdens. All the things that weigh us down – all the sorrows, worries, tears and trials, our problems and our struggles, we can lay them down upon Him.

The psalmist says: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (Psalm 55:22). Apostle Peter writes: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Yes, the Lord cares for you. He will support you. His shoulders are mighty to carry every load that weighs you down.

How long will you keep carrying your own sorrows? Whether it is the burden of debt, family troubles, false accusations, or the weight of sin—you don’t need to carry them anymore with your own strength. Today, cast it all on the Lord’s shoulders and praise Him with thanksgiving. You will then experience deep rest in your heart. You will receive divine peace. There will be great release and refreshing in your soul. With confidence, you too can say: “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me” (Psalm 138:8).

Christ has already borne our sins, curses, diseases, weaknesses, and sorrows. Even today, He longs to carry your burdens. Dear children of God, cast all your cares upon the shoulders of the Lord.

Verse for further meditation: “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
