Jan 26 – With All Your Heart!

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

If you will be with the Lord, He will be with you. If you seek Him, He will reveal Himself to you. In this new year, make a firm decision to seek the Lord with all your heart—that is true prayer.

To support your prayers of faith, the Lord has given four great blessings:

  1. His promises
  2. His prophecies
  3. The gifts of His grace
  4. The Holy Spirit

These four blessings help you draw near to God, cling to Him, and seek Him wholeheartedly.

Look at the life of Charles Finney. One day, an unbearable longing rose within him to seek the Lord. So he said, “I am going to pray for three hours before God’s presence. I am going to seek Him,” and he went off to a quiet place and knelt down to pray.

But his mind was filled with darkness, and he could not focus. Because he had committed to wait for three hours, he did not know how to spend the time. He cried out, “Alas! Have I grieved God? Have I caused Him pain? Why can I not feel His presence?”

At that moment, a verse flashed across the screen of his mind: “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

He held on to this promise firmly. “O God, reveal Yourself to me. Be gracious to me, a sinner. I must see You… I must feel Your presence.” As he prayed with such desperation, his hard heart was broken. He was drawn into the depths of God’s presence, and his life was transformed.

To remain with God, you must have an unquenchable thirst. When you seek Him with that thirst, you will surely find Him. Many cannot wait long in God’s presence because they lack thirst. They pray merely out of duty, so their thoughts wander, and their prayers become ineffective.

David’s prayer life was driven by thirst. He said: “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalm 42:2)

Children of God, seek the Lord with a deep thirst. You will surely find Him.

Verse for further meditation: “For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground.” (Isaiah 44:3)
