Jan 05 – Noah’s Obedience!
“Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch” (Genesis 6:14).
When the Lord commanded Noah to build an ark, He gave him clear, detailed instructions—the length, the breadth, the height, the number of levels, and even the exact requirement that there must be only one door and one window. Along with the design, God also gave the precise measurements. And Scripture says, “Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did” (Genesis 6:22).
What God desires most from His people is obedience. Whatever the Lord commands, we must obey without question and without delay. Because Noah obeyed exactly as God instructed, the Lord brought him—and his entire household—into the ark and protected them.
At wedding receptions, people sometimes give a monetary gift like ₹101 instead of ₹100. And I do not know the reason for such a practice. But one thing is sure: when God gives a measure, we are not to add even one unit nor subtract from it. Noah did not alter the measurements by even one cubit. God’s commands are not to be adjusted or modified.
Scripture reminds us, “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (Matthew 6:27). The measure God has chosen for your life must be accepted without attempting to increase it by your own effort.
When God instructed Moses to build the Tabernacle, He gave him detailed blueprints. Moses did not add to them or subtract from them. Because he obeyed fully, “the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle” (Exodus 40:34–35).
Likewise, God gave David the architectural plans for the Temple. Solomon built it exactly according to that pattern. When he dedicated it, the glorious cloud of God descended and filled the house, confirming God’s approval.
Build your spiritual life according to the Word, without turning to the right or to the left. When you obey every command and teaching with 100% obedience, heaven itself will approve you.
Children of God, obey the Lord wholeheartedly. Practice every instruction He gives you. As you do, His glory will fill your heart, and in eternity He will lead you with exceeding joy into His glorious kingdom.
Verse for further meditation: “No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling” (Psalm 91:10).
