Feb 01 – Personal Prayer!

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, Lord Jesus went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35)

You need personal prayer. You need a deep, personal relationship with God. You need a rich and intimate fellowship with Christ. Therefore, beginning this month, make a deliberate decision to increase your personal time of prayer.

Even Jesus Christ needed personal prayer. Desiring to commune privately with the Father, He withdrew from the crowds, stepped away from society, and even left His beloved disciples behind. He went to a solitary place and prayed early in the morning.

The Bible says: “However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” (Luke 5:15–16)

In those days, He went up on the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God (Mark 6:46). Again we read: “Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.” (Matthew 14:22–23)

The Scriptures record many such instances that highlight the personal prayer life of Jesus Christ. Personal prayer is absolutely essential for us. It is vital for receiving strength in the inner man.

Those who begin their day by personally communing with God not only receive divine guidance but also gain the strength and grace needed to face the day and complete it victoriously.

Today, many people pray in public meetings, church services, and group gatherings. Yet they struggle to pray joyfully and deeply in personal fellowship with God. As days go by, this lack of private prayer leads to weariness, instability, and eventual defeat in their lives.

Daniel, though he often prayed together with his friends, gave great importance to personal prayer. The Bible says: “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” (Daniel 6:10)

Children of God, make a firm decision to meet the King of kings every morning in solitude.

Verse for further meditation: “So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain.” (Exodus 34:2)
