sep – 24 – THREE REVELATIONS!
“The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran” (Acts 7:2).
When God appeared before Abraham for the first time, He appeared as a God of glory. While writing about Abraham, the historians say, “The forefathers of Abraham worshipped the angel of the moon. Abraham’s father was Terah and his livelihood was making and selling idols. All the places were filled with the dominance of darkness. There were no evangelists or servants of God. The whole place was filled with the gentiles.”
But God found that the heart of Abraham was longing to find a living God and that was why God appeared before him as a ‘God of glory.’ So, it was not hard for Abraham to obey the call of the living God. He left his people and nation and departed to the land shown by God. Dear children of God, if your eyes see that God who called you is a King of Glory, it will not be hard for you to get rid of sinful pleasures.
Secondly, when God appeared before Abraham, He appeared like a God of the Most High. “Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God most high, possessor of heaven and earth and blessed be God most high, who has delivered your enemies into your hand” (Genesis 14:18-20).
What was the change in Abraham when God revealed Himself as a God of the Most High? ‘He gave the tithe to God’ (Genesis 14:20). Abraham happily exalted God by giving tithe from all his yields realising that the blessings of God who created the heaven and earth as well as the refuge and hiding of the Most High were required by him.
Thirdly, God appeared before Abraham as a God of Almighty. God said, “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before me and be blameless. And I will make my covenant between me and you and will multiply you exceedingly”(Genesis 17:1, 2). At the ripe age of one hundred, Abraham became the father of the believers as God the Almighty appeared before him. Dear children of God your God is a God Almighty. Is there anything impossible for Him?
To meditate: “Therefore from one man and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore” (Hebrews 11:12).
