MARCH 10 – HE LOVED !
“Jesus having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end” (John 13:1).
Our Lord is full of love, mercy and compassion, and He loves you till the very end.
In a forest a stag and a female deer were extremely thirsty and were trying to find water. At last, they found a place, where there was only limited volume of water. The female deer waited it out for the stag to drink that water. Similarly, the stag also waited it out, to give preference to the female deer.
When they finally understood that one will not drink without the other drinking first, they put their mouths in the water at the same time. But the water level did not reduce, as neither of them were drinking. They were just pretending to drink, so that the other may quench its thirst. What a wonderful love is this! This is the real love, sacrificial love in action.
Once when a husband and wife were walking on the parallel rails of the same track, the wife’s foot accidently got trapped between the rail and the plank underneath. And the husband could not release her, in spite of repeated attempts.
To their dismay, an express train was approaching them rapidly on the same track. The woman who was caught in the tracks, pleaded with her husband to move away and save his life. But he just embraced her in a protective manner, stood still and told her firmly that he will be with her even in death, and faced the death together.
Our dear Lord Jesus, was not afraid of all the torments and afflictions while facing the death on the Cross. He was not terrified of the soldiers or the interrogations. Neither did He run away from the Cross.
Because of the love He had for us, He took upon Himself all the afflictions and even death on the Cross, for our sake. The Scripture says: “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever” (Revelation 1:5-6).
Children of God, because of His great love for you, the Lord gave Himself up as a living sacrifice, has washed away your sins with His precious blood, and has made you kings and priests. There is no limit for His love toward you.
Verse for further meditation: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).
