Mar 09 – HE WILL HEAR !
“If anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him” (John 9:31).
When you discern the will of God and act accordingly, then the Lord hears your prayers. He will fulfill all His promises with a Yes and Amen. When you do His will, He will surely lend His ears to you.
Now who made such a statement? It was made by a man who was blind from his birth, and whose eyes were opened by Lord Jesus. He said this as a reply to the many questions posed to him by the Pharisees and Sadducees. We read of his emphatic response in John 9:31. “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him” (John 9:31).
King David is someone who dedicated himself to do the will of God. The Scripture says: “ You have given him his heart’s desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips” (Psalm 21:2). The desires of heart, thoughts and intents of a righteous person are acceptable to God. “ The thoughts of the righteous are right…” (Proverbs 12:5).
You should always examine whether your prayers, petitions, appeals will be pleasing to the Lord. The prayer of King Solomon pleased the Lord. And the Lord said: “Behold, I have done according to your words”. When there is iniquity in your heart, the Lord will not hear your prayer. At the same time, “this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).
When we do the will of God, we need to be patient, as the Lord will fulfill that which He has promised. Though it may tarry, He will surely bring it to pass. He promised descendants to Abraham through Sarah. But Sarah did not wait for God’s promise to be fulfilled. As an obstacle to the promise of God, she gave her maidservant Hagar to Abraham. She thought of establishing her house through the children of Hagar.
It is in this background that Ishmael was born. And from that day until the present times, there is no peace between Israelites and the Ishmaelites. If only Sarah had waited patiently, all these calamities would not have happened. Children of God, wait patiently and surrender yourselves completely for His perfect will to be established in your lives.
Verse for further meditation: “Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house…” (1 Samuel 2:35)
