Mar 08 – HE WILL GIVE !

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11).

The Lord God who gives good things is indeed extravagantly rich! He owns all the gold and silver. The world and all its inhabitants belong to Him. He grants all the good gifts to His children out of His bounty. There are some who believe that He grants only spiritual gifts. It is true that the salvation, divine peace, anointing of the Holy Spirit and eternal life are the gifts given by God. But the same God who blesses us with such spiritual gifts also gives the gifts that we need for this world as well.

Once when the Lord went up on a mountain to teach, multitudes of people gathered around Him to hear His words. He preached the word of God: the heavenly Manna. Spiritual blessings were poured upon the people, and the Lord revealed to them the mysteries of the heavenly kingdom. But the Lord did not stop with spiritual blessings alone. He healed the sick, cleansed the lepers, drove away the demonic spirits and performed great signs and wonders. And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude (Matthew 15:36)

So, they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left. Yes, the Lord generously provided for, and fulfilled all their needs – even to the extent of seven basket full of fragments. The Lord is never mindful of the measure of His gifts to you. He opens up the windows of heaven and pours out His blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it.

When you love the Lord, and give generously for His ministry, extend hospitality to; and honor His servants, He will surely be gracious unto you. And He will fill you with His blessings until you have no more room to receive them (Malachi 3:10).

Once a servant of God, who was in dire poverty, prayed thus to the Lord: “Lord, you are in heaven, where even the streets are laid with gold and where there is plenty of pearls and diamonds. Why don’t You look down on the condition of Your servant, and give me a pearl or a diamond?” Although this prayer was lifted up in a light-hearted manner, God looked at the child-like innocence of that servant and granted him all the worldly blessings, by opening up the windows of heaven. That servant was bestowed with worldly and spiritual blessings. Children of God, our Lord is the One who grants generously and perfectly.

Verse for further meditation: “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8).
