Mar 06 – HE WILL GUIDE !
“The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones” (Isaiah 58:11).
The Lord will hold your hand and guide you with all His love and compassion until the very end. But in order to be led by Him in such a manner, you should completely submit yourselves to Him and pray for the Lord to lead all your thoughts and contemplations in the path of righteousness.
King David joyfully declared that: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters” (Psalm 23:1-2). The Lord should be your shepherd in all the aspects of your life. Many times, while you allow certain domains to be guided by the Lord, you still want the other areas to be controlled by yourselves. This is the reason why there is a conflict between your ways and the will of God, on many occasions.
Our Lord is not just someone who satisfies your hunger and thirst. But He is a shepherd who establishes your thoughts, intents, words and deeds. You don’t have to be afraid, even if you have to walk through the valley of the shadow of death, for the Lord is with you and His rod and His staff will comfort you. He will lead you until you reach the heavenly kingdom, until you reach eternity. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Let your prayer be a heartfelt one like that of the Psalmist: “Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock” (Psalm 80:1). The shepherd of the flock does not treat all the sheep alike. There may be some which are weak and infirm, and there may be some which are nursing their young ones. There may also be some sheep which may be handicapped, which cannot walk in line with the others. So, the shepherd will lead each sheep of the flock with due regard to its condition. The Scripture says: “He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young” (Isaiah 40:11).
The Lord says: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep”. Children of God, what a wonderful privilege it is to have someone who gives His own life for us! Praise and worship the Lord, with the full awareness as to how wonderfully He guides and leads us.
Verse for further meditation: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4).
