Feb 28 – DOUBLE–MINDED !

“he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1: 8).

It is very important to focus your mind before you get down on your knees to pray. And you should firmly remove all the obstacles that come against your prayer. If you fail to create prayerful spirit and a conducive environment, your prayers will not be effective.

In a zoo, they had kept a strange chameleon, which attracted huge number of visitors. It had two heads. Its second head was in the tail side of the body. It had two mouths and two sets of eyes.

While it attracted many visitors, its actual condition was so pathetic. Whenever it tried to run, it could not move in any direction, as the limbs at one end of the body were going in exactly opposite direction, from the limbs at the other end.

Such is the condition of many at the time of their prayer. They long for the presence of God at one end and are filled with the troubles of the world at the other end. For some of them, while their bodies are turned toward the Lord in a state of prayer, their soul is turning towards the chores that need to be completed that day. On the one hand, they have a sense of holiness and on the other hand, they devise evil schemes in their minds.

Apostle James says: “He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. Let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. (James 1: 8,7,6).

What are the impediments to your prayer? May be your current circumstances create those obstacles, or may be because of your double-mind, or due to your sins or guilt afflicting you.

Children of God, whatever may be the obstacle to prayer, make a resolution to get rid of those barriers. Know for sure that it is of no use to be double-minded, and progress in your prayer life with a single-minded focus.

Verse for further meditation: “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59: 2).
