Feb 23 – WEDDING !
“On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there” (John 2: 1).
The Scripture says that the wedding to which Jesus, His disciples and His mother were invited, was held on the third day of the week. As per the calendar of those days, Sunday was the first day of the week. Monday was the second day and Tuesday the third day of the week. But in these days, no body holds a wedding on a Tuesday. Tuesday is considered by many as inauspicious and not a preferred day of the week. Many do not even plan their travel on Tuesdays.
But those who had organized the wedding in the days of Jesus, were fortunately the ones who were not looking at the so-called auspicious day of the week or time of the day. That is why Lord Jesus also participated in the wedding with gladness in His heart, along with His disciples and His mother. Today, there are many who look for the so-called auspicious time of the day, and even print the start time and close time of the wedding event in the invitation cards. How much will such acts grieve the heart of our Lord! If this is the case, will He be able to take part in the wedding, with gladness of heart? Just think about it.
Let us reflect on the term ‘third day’ again. From the days of Christ to the present days, it has been two thousand years so far. In the eyes of the Lord, this is just like two days. And we will soon have the third day. That third day refers to the coming Reign of Christ along with His saints, for one thousand years. At a time, when more than two thousand years have passed, the Scripture calls out to us with an invitation. “Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!” (Revelation 19: 9).
Our Lord Jesus Christ will be the Groom in that marriage of the Lamb. And the Church which He purchased with His own blood, will be the Bride. Like a groom entering the marriage hall, to the sound of music, the Lord will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And you will meet the lover-of-your-soul, face to face. O, what a glorious day of rejoicing that will be! Multitudes of people from the east, west, north and south will take part in that marriage supper along with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
There shall be joy, gladness, celebration and festivity, and there shall be no lack of grape wine. The King of Glory, shall fulfill all your need according to His riches in glory. Children of God, are you prepared to meet up with your Lord, in His glorious coming, as the Bridegroom of your soul? Be prudent and watchful and profitably use these days of grace that the Lord has given you, so that you may be found in His coming!
Verse for further meditation: “And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” (Revelation 22: 17).
