Feb 08 – MEDITATION !

“May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD” (Psalm 104: 34)

Meditation is a great practice for spiritual progress, and has a special place among spiritual efforts. From out of his experience, we see David sharing about the sweetness of meditation about God. A life of meditation is very important for the children of God. It helps in enriching and energizing your thoughts and your life.

You should never forget that the success or failure of a man begins in his thought and mind. When someone fails to meditate much on the Lord, Satan takes advantage of that person and plants many evil and lustful thoughts. He brings in many sinful imaginations and tempts them to fulfill their lusts.

All the saints that we see in the Scripture, spent much of their time in meditating on the word of God. We see that Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening (Genesis 24: 63).

When David writes about his meditation, he says: “My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word” (Psalm 119: 148). Meditation and Prayer are the strength of your soul. And meditation binds you with the Lord.

Before the children of Israel could inherit the land of Canaan, the Lord instructed Joshua to meditate on the Book of the Law. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1: 8).

Just ponder over this verse. There were many battlefields lying in front of Joshua in the land of Canaan. He had to battle with the seven nations and thirty-one kings of Canaan. While physical strength was important for all these battles, it was even more important for him to be strong in his mind and soul. And meditation on the Book of Law was the main channel for him to get such strength. Children of God, be aware that a life of meditation is a life full of blessings, and act accordingly.

Verse for further meditation: “My heart was hot within me; While I was musing, the fire burned. Then I spoke with my tongue” (Psalm 39: 3).
