Jan 19 – Toward Perfection!

“let us go on to perfection” (Hebrews 6:1)

In the current days, when we are very close to the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus, the most important that we need to take care is to progress toward perfection. The term ‘perfection’ means inheriting all the characteristics of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When we say ‘perfection’, it is not something that we can achieve overnight or in a month or in a year. It is a divine experience that you gain through God’s grace and your efforts. Everyday you should make a progress toward perfection.

Most of the Christians live their life for worldly ambitions and do not have a burden in their hearts to be found perfect at the Second Coming of our Lord. The lives of many happen to be a continuous struggle to meet their basic needs. Apostle Paul urges us to go on towards perfection. He determined that his life goal was to establish everyone in Christ.

When you walk with Christ and make a continual progress toward perfection, you will not only experience spiritual excellence but also receive the divine revelations of God. Through these, you should move toward perfection in holiness, in Godly love, in faith, and in inheriting the characteristics of Christ. There is a great hope to all of you who are moving toward perfection. The Scripture tells us: “but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2).

Is it even possible for a man to achieve perfection – to have perfection in love, perfection in faith, perfection in meekness, perfection in all good works? When this question was posed to a man of God, he responded as follows: “It is impossible to try for perfection in each of these characteristics individually. You should leave behind such thoughts; you should hold on to the thought that Christ is my perfection. It is His image and characteristics that I want to obtain in my life. When you do that and meditate on the Gospel over and over again, you will definitely move toward perfection. And you will inherit Christ – who is completely perfect.

Children of God, meditate more and more on Christ and His Words. Have a deep fellowship with Christ. When you do that, even without your knowing, you will move on toward perfection in the image of Christ.

Verse for further meditation: “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 John 3:3).
