Jan 18 – Renewing Power!

“Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16)

When you pray to the Lord to renew your spirit, soul and mind – He makes everything new. He grants you new power and grace. The Scripture also tells us that the inner man is being renewed day by day.

The Lord does two things in order to renew your inner man. One is the Baptism, through which you become dead to the old life and become a new creation, in faith. Second is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul tells us clearly that: “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).

When you come into Christ, you become dead to the old ways of living, and your past sinful life. Not only that, you are cleansed in the water that is symbolic of the death of Christ, His burial and His resurrection. At the same time, God also fills with you with the Holy Spirit.

It is God’s will that you should make a continual progress through the renewing power. It is for this purpose that He pours out the Holy Spirit upon you. When you are so filled with the Holy Spirit, you become one with God and you are transformed. The Scripture tells us: “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

You may all have heard about John Wesley, the servant of God. Once a reporter asked him a question: “Sir, when all the church buildings are closed without any attendance, what is the secret behind such huge gatherings for your meetings?”. To that John Wesley responded with all humility: “Sir, I completely surrender myself to the renewing power of the Holy Spirit. And people gather in large number just to see how that power manifests in me”.

Children of God, do you desire for your inner man to be strengthened and that your spiritual life is renewed? Please give room for the fire of the Holy Spirit to be poured out upon you. And the Lord will certainly renew your life and bring to pass all the desires of your heart.

Verse for further meditation: “the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:17)
