Jan 15 – New Image!

“And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:49).

God has granted a new image to each one of you, who have become a new creation in Christ. That image is like unto the image of Lord Jesus Christ – image of the Lord of heavens. You are also transformed into the likeness of those in heaven.

Some years ago, I read a news item in a magazine. It was a report about the efforts of a family to give in marriage a girl who had a dark complexion. Many rejected her quoting her dark complexion. Finally, her parents had to give off a huge dowry to get her married, to a groom from a simple background. But even in her new home, she was forsaken and disregarded because of her complexion. Unable to bear such rejection, she finally ended her life by committing suicide. When I read that report, I was very anguished in my heart. Only the verse from Song of Solomon which says: “I am dark, but lovely”, came to my mind.

While you are still in the world, in Adam, you are darkened by the sins. But Lord Jesus never rejected you but had great love for you and came in search of you, as the lover of your soul. All your sins and curses were washed away through the drops of His precious blood, and you were made beautiful. While you were dark and ugly in Adam, you were made beautiful in Christ.

The character of both Adam and Christ is found in you, all the days of your life. But one day the trumpet will sound. “For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53).

From the moment the trumpet is sounded, you will have a new image. All the worldly character and image will be removed and you will be clothed with a heavenly image. You will no longer be dark and ugly but be transformed into beautiful image, like unto our Lord Jesus.

The Scripture tells us: “we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). In the heavenly image, there will be no blemish or stain, and you will be spotless. And you will shine forth in your glorious image. What a great day that will be!

Verse for further meditation: “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind” (Isaiah 65:17)
