Jan 14 – New Mind!

“be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2)

When someone is in Christ, he becomes a new creation. As a new creation, the mind should be renewed. Such renewal should also lead to transformation. Apostle Paul tells us not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2)

Redemption of your soul could happen in just one day. But in order to renew your mind and be transformed, it is important for you to spend more time in reading the word of God and have good fellowship with the children of God. Only when you go deeper and deeper into prayer life, will your mind be renewed.

Firstly, Apostle Paul wrote about transformation by the renewing of mind, not to the sinners but to those believers who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and to those who are anointed and made righteous. You should stop with the experience of redemption and anointing but be transformed in your mind.

Secondly, observe the Lord’s instruction to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. He is not saying that He will transform us. He has already made you into a new creation, by His blood. He has granted you a new heart and a new spirit. He has also bestowed you with new strength and new power. His mercies are new every morning. While He has done all these, the transformation of your mind is in your hands.

Now, how do you renew yourselves? James writes thus: “lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:21). You should renew your mind with the implanted word of God, by accepting the word of God, lead your life according to the word of God and faithfully proclaiming the word of God.

The word of God contains life and spirit, and they are able to bring life to the soul. Children of God, only through the word of God, can you destroy the works of Satan. If you fill your mind with the word of God, and meditate on them day and night, the works of the adversary will never be able to prevail against you.

Verse for further meditation: “Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:13).
