Jan 02 – New Days!
“Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old” (Lamentations 5:21)
It was the prayer of Jeremiah to renew the days. He did not just pray for a normal renewal but renewal of days like in the times of old.
How wonderful it will be, if you can also experience the goodness of those old days. Just think about those ancient days. The days when the God came down to earth to search out for men, the days when He walked with man in the cool of the day, the days of deep fellowship between God and man, days when man continually delighted in the Lord.
A young fellow had a wonderful family with loving parents, brothers and sisters. He was very pious and had a good fellowship with the Lord in his younger days. But as he grew into an adult, he was led into sinful ways by his friends. As he lived a life of worldly pleasures, he fell victim to a dreadful disease. His intestine decayed and gave out a horrible stench. And only when he was close to his death, he realized his state and how he far he has moved from the good old days when he had a close relationship with God. He cried out to God to ‘renew the days as of old’.
At that time a minister of God read out to him the following verse from the Bible and prayed for him. “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make” (Jeremiah 18:4). And the Lord – the heavenly potter, heard the prayers and renewed the life of that man and granted him complete cure from the dreaded disease.
Every single day that you have is a gracious gift of God. There are so many people who have passed away from this world. Therefore, every single day that you have, you should bless and praise the name of the Lord, as it is another opportunity to live a new life that is dedicated for Him.
When the earth was without form and void, God willed to renew everything and bring it back to order. When man lost the fellowship with God and moved away from God’s love, He was filed with compassion and came down to earth in order to renew the days as of old. Dear children of God, may the Lord God renew every aspect of your life, grant you new days and bless you!
Verse for further meditation: “Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13)
