Dec 22 – THE LORD SHALL PRESERVE !
“You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever.” (Psalm 12:7)
We find numerous mentions of the phrase ‘Lord who protects’ in the Scripture. Irrespective of your current situation, God is there to protect you.
There are times when you have to take important decisions in your life. You are well aware that the rest of your life depends on these important decisions. But you are anxious and worried as you are unable to come to any conclusion. You do not know for sure which direction that you should take, whether to the right or to the left, whether to believe in a person and go ahead or not. And when you want to please some men, you lose peace in your heart.
Whenever you are in such a situation, hold your peace and look unto God and confess to Him, saying: “Lord if I were to take a decision on my own, my whole life will be ruined. In this situation, I commit my whole life, all my care and my future into Your mighty hand. You take the decision for me Lord! And reveal Your will for me”. When you make such a prayer, God will remove all that is not pleasing to Him from your life, and will make a new way for you. And thus, He shall preserve you from all harm.
The entire Psalm 121 is filled with promises of God. Many of you may be able to recite this entire Psalm by heart. Read this Psalm with a full understanding and with praise of God and faith in your hearts. And you will be filled with the comfort and protection of the Lord. “He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul” (Psalm 121:3,5,7).
When you completely surrender yourselves to God, you will realize that He is a God who keeps you and protects you, beyond any shadow of doubt Once you have that realization, you can gladly declare along with Apostle Paul that “I know whom I have believed and persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day” (2 Timothy 1:12). Yes, you shall indeed by preserved and protected.
Our God is He who promised to Joshua, saying: “I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). He is the God who promised to Jacob, saying: “I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” (Genesis 28:15). The same God is promising you today that He shall protect you and preserve you. God who has promised is faithful and mighty to fulfill that promise. Therefore, praise and give thanks to God with all your heart.
Verse for further meditation: “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
