Dec 17 – THE LORD WILL FIGHT !

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14)

Everyone is happy to read the first part of above verse. But it is the second part of the verse, that they find it difficult to understand or practise. Children of God, are not able to hold their peace. They feel compelled to do something on their own about the situation, and many times complicate it and even block God from fighting on their behalf.

Till such time Moses was in the palace, he could not be still. He thought that he could liberate the children of Israel from the bondage of Egyptians, by his own strength. He also wanted to exhibit his wrestling, archery and swordsmanship. The Scripture says that: “Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds” (Acts 7:22).

In his pursuit of liberating the Israelites from the bondage, he went ahead and killed an Egyptian. And thus became a murderer in the eyes of Pharaoh. Due to this incident, he had to flee from Egypt and the Israelites, and hide himself in land of Midianites.

While he was there in Midian, the Lord appeared unto Moses. He appeared to Him in the midst of a burning bush – the bush that was burning but was not consumed. Yes, whoever thinks that the battle is not his, but belongs to the Lord, his life and ministry will be burning bright with fire but at the same time, he will not be consumed. You should understand this deeper spiritual truth and practise it in your life.

If you are praying for the redemption of your husband, you should surrender your husband into His mighty hands, pray for God to act and give thanks and praise to God. You should have complete faith that the Lord will touch your husband and save him. And the Lord shall surely save him. But some start relying on themselves and keep on nagging the husband to be saved, which will only lead to hardening his heart.

Whenever evil men rise up against you, or hurl abusive words at you and hurt you, cast all these burdens at the feet of the Lord. Because He is the One who cares for you. Cast all your worries and cares upon Him. You should remain still and let the Lord fight for you. And He shall grant you victory.

Verse for further meditation: “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” (Psalm 138:8)
