Dec 15 – THE LORD IS YOUR INHERITANCE !
“Then the Lord said to Aaron: “You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.” (Numbers 18:20)
The Lord is your inheritance. And He is your portion. And He abides with you forever. Many people inherit wealth, or acquire education and fame. Some others acquire worldly wealth, influence and honour as their inheritance. But the Lord says: “I am your portion and your inheritance”.
In the days of Old Testament, the Israelites had to leave Egypt, when the land of Canaan was given as an inheritance to them. They had to cross the Red Sea and wander in the wilderness for forty long years. They had to receive the commandments of God, through fire in Mount Sinai. They also had to be led by pillar of cloud and by pillar of fire.
In a similar manner, if you have to inherit the Lord, you need to leave behind the pleasures of your worldly sins. You need to repent of your sins, turn to the Lord and cross the Red Sea, which is the foreshadow of Baptism in faith. It is essential for you to be anointed in fire by the Holy Spirit. And continue to be guided by the pilar of cloud – which is the word of God, and the pillar of fire, the Holy Spirit. And then, you will have the Lord as your inheritance.
It may be difficult to tread the path of this wilderness, with the fear of God and complete dedication. But be aware, that God, who is the inheritance placed before you, is all powerful to guide you along the path. Apostle Paul writes: “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11). What a great privilege to have Lord Jesus as your portion and your inheritance! When you inherit Christ, you also become partakers of all His blessings and grace.
May your eyes always be focused on the Lord your inheritance and His divine kingdom. Apostle Paul, always had that inheritance in his heart and was constantly progressing toward that goal. He writes thus in Colossians 1:12: ““giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light”. Dear children of God, you also should march towards that great inheritance with faith and with unceasing endeavour.
Verse for further meditation: “knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.” (Hebrews 10:34-35)
