Dec 11 – STRENGTH OF THE LORD !

“…out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” (Hebrews 11:34)

The strength mentioned in the above verse, is the divine strength in the inner man, arising out of faith. This divine strength makes you strong even in your weakness. And it helps you to fight your battles valiantly.

Many who are physically strong are not really courageous in their hearts. They fear and tremble of darkness and evil spirits. Even with insignificant matters, they become weary in their hearts. And they live their lives as cowards, lacking in courage. This is so, because they do not lean on the strength of God in their lives.

But how does the Lord strengthen a person? Firstly, He provides him faith and makes him strong even in his weakness. Even when He separates and calls people for Himself, he chooses the weak. The Scripture says that God has chosen the weak to put to shame the mighty. Even if you are weak today, enter boldly into the presence of God and He shall gird you with strength, and use you mightily for His purpose.

Apostle Paul was weak. A thorn in the flesh was given to him, making him weak and infirm. Even in his bodily appearance, he was found to be weak (2 Corinthians 10:10). But the Lord girded him with strength and established him as a zealous testimony for Him. That is why Paul said: “Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10).

Paul also boldly declared: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). When you place your complete faith on the Lord, you will see the strength in your inner man. The Scripture says: “The Lord will give strength to His people” (Psalm 29:11).

God has also promised another type of strength for you – the strength from on high, which is the strength of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus said: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8).

Therefore, be girded with power from on high (Luke 24:49). “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). They will be endued with new strength in their lives. Therefore, dear children of God, be filled with the Holy Spirit, the power from on high.

Verse for further meditation: “It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32)
