Dec 10 – THE NAME OF GOD !
“And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know” (Acts 3:16).
You have great strength in us because of the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only by His name are you strengthened. Since you bear the name of Christ, you can gird yourself with strength and do mighty things for the Lord.
One day when Peter and John went up together to the temple, they saw a man who was lame from his mother’s womb. There was no strength in his legs, nor did he have any source of earning to lead his life with dignity. He suffered great pain and was weak at his knees. Peter said to him: “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength” (Acts 3:6-7).
All the people who saw the miracle of a lame man healed, were astonished. And Peter revealed to them, that it was the name of God, which had healed and strengthened the lame man. “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know” (Acts 3:16). Apostle Paul also declared that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
When Israelites went out of Egypt, the Pharaoh chased them with his mighty army and his chariots. The Israelites who were unarmed, could never have faced that mighty army, in their own strength. But they took refuge and strength in the name of God. When Moses held out his staff, Pharaoh and his entire army and all his chariots were swallowed by the Red Sea. It was then Moses and Miriam glorified God by singing: “The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him” (Exodus 15:2).
Have faith in the name of the Lord and proclaim the name of ‘Christ Jesus’ continually in your hearts. He has promised to grant anything that you ask in His name, in faith. His name is a strong tower and a fortress. And you will be saved and all will be well with you, when you run into His mighty name.
Psalmist David, glorified God by singing: “I will love You, O Lord, my strength” (Psalm 18:1). “For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall” (Psalm 18:29). “It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect” (Psalm 18:32). David always glorified the name of the Lord, and gained strength in His name. Dear children of God, you also should gird yourselves in strength in the name of the Lord. When the Lord is your strength, you shall never be moved.
Verse for further meditation: “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
