Dec 04 – TRUTH OF GOD!

“His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”(Psalm 91:4)

The greatest among the blessings of God is His Truth. When we say Truth, it means two different things: Word of Truth and Christ – the Truth. Like a pair of eyes, these two truths, bring revelation to a person.

We refer to the Bible as the Holy Scripture, as all the Words in the Bible are holy and true. They contain life in them. More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

All the promises of God will last forever. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will by no means pass away. In the Scripture, you have promises that guide you along the path. There are also verses which provide lamp to your feet and light to your path. Those who walk in the light of the Scripture, will never falter, nor will they go astray. Because the Word of God, leads you in complete Truth and perfects you.

When our Lord Jesus prayed for His disciples, He pleaded for sanctifying them with God’s truth. “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (John 17:17). The Words of God are pure and holy and they also sanctify you. You will grow in your holiness to the extent you devote yourselves to read and meditate the Word of God. The Word of God also liberates you from all your bondages. The Lord Jesus said: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

What a great blessing it is to know, that the Word of God is also your shield and buckler. His Truth is a shield which protects you from the fiery darts and arrows. Jesus Christ is your shield. Therefore, you need not fear or be dismayed, but only hold on to God.

Shield is an important armament for a person in the battlefield. Similarly, the Word of God – the shield of truth protects you from all harm, while you fight with the hosts of the evil spirits. Our Lord Jesus overcame the temptations of Satan, only by using those Words of Truth. And the victorious Lord Jesus, will grant you victory and help you overcome in all your spiritual battles.

Verse for further meditation: “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)
