Nov 28 – THREE TABERNACLES !

“Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” (Mathew 17:4).

At the mount of transfiguration, Peter was overjoyed with the presence of God. Brimming with emotions and full of cheer, he said to Jesus, that it was good to be in that place. How true is that!

Instead of being swayed by the problems of life, how good and pleasant it is to have the mountain-top experience, to be with the Lord and to delight in the presence of God! Such mountain-top experience will give you the divine strength to press on with the ministry in a powerful manner. It will also fill you with the vigour and vitality and make you stand zealously for the Lord.

Peter was always dynamic and wanted to get things done in a swift manner. He was filled with love for the Lord. And he was abounding with enthusiasm when Moses and Elijah appeared to them. The Scripture records that he did not even know what to say (Mark 9:6).

Dear children of God, Moses and Elijah should not leave us, as it will be good if they are with us. Such experiences of seeing and interacting with the saints of God, indeed bring delight to our hearts.

May be Peter would have thought, that if Moses and Elijah could join hands with Jesus, they can shake the whole world. And if only they joined together, they can release the people of Israel from the oppression of Roman armies, and establish a great kingdom in the world.

Even though Peter was not fully aware of his own thoughts and words, he starts sharing his intention by saying ‘Lord, if You wish…’. This shows the clear commitment of Peter to subject all his prayers and intentions, first and foremost to the Will of God. Even when you make your requests and supplications to the Lord, it is important to pray for God’s will to be done in your lives. James also writes: “you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that” (James 4:15).

When Christ Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane: “He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Mathew 26:39). Dear children of God, will you pray for God’s will to be done in your lives?

Verse for further meditation: “Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1).
