Nov 15 – BEHIND THE VEIL !
“You have dove’s eyes behind your veil” (Song of Solomon 4:1)
The eyes of a dove behind the veil, is the kind of eyes that the Lord appreciates. Here ‘veil’ is compared to the Honour given to the Lord and also signifies prayer. This represents the picture of devoted ladies engaged in prayer as their heads are covered with veil.
Whenever the Lord looks at those prayer warriors praying fervently, praying with tears in their eyes with a heavy burden in their hearts, standing in the gap and interceding for others – He appreciates them and tells them that their eyes are like that of a dove behind a veil. (Song of Solomon 4:1). The urgent need of the Lord today is Prayer Warriors who will stand in the Presence of God and intercede for the needs of others.
We see our Spiritual forefather Abraham, starting this ministry in the 18th chapter of Genesis. When you read the chapter, you will understand the kind of burden that he had in his heart while praying and petitioning for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. It was a prayer arising out of the heaviness of his heart, as he was filled with love and mercy.
The eyes of Moses too were like those of the dove. God intended to destroy all the Israelites because of their murmuring. And it was only because of the intercession of Moses who stood in the gap and prayed for them, that the Lord changed His heart and turned away from that destruction.
Look at Esther! She observed a fast without eating and drinking for three days, and prayed with tears and was able to save all of the Jewish people from certain death. The Lord is eagerly looking for such people who stand in the gap and pray on behalf of others.
May be in your personal life, there are so many issues and conflicts brought about by the adversary, or may be there is no peace in the family. In that case, as prescribed in Jeremiah 29:13, you should seek the Lord with all your heart and pour out all your problems. Learn to seek Him, and have the experience of prayer even in the middle of the night. (Psalm 119:62). And God will not pass you by without answering your prayers.
Now, how were the eyes of Jesus? His eyes are like doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus (John 11:35). He saw the city of Jerusalem and wept over it (Luke 19:41). And at the Garden of Gethsemane, he prayed in agony for the whole world, till His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Dear children of God, bend your knees in the presence of God and start praying fervently with tears.
Verse for further meditation: “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication” (Zechariah 12:10)
