Nov 09 – WE CRIED OUT
When we cried out to the Lord, He heard our voice and sent the Angel and brought us up out of Egypt; now here we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your border. (Numbers 20:16)
Along with petition and thanksgiving, you should add Intercession in your prayer. Intercessory prayers are so powerful, and it is much deeper and excellent than your routine prayers. We could see in the Scripture, how Prophet Jeremiah stood in the gap between God and the Israelites, and interceded for them.
Even today, you should learn to stand in the presence of God and intercede for those going through various trials in their lives and pray for God to change the situations that confront them. The Lord says, “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
Intercessory prayers will definitely be answered by God. When you pray with fasting for your children, for unity within the family, for the Church and for the Nation, God will never forsake those tearful prayers. In the Scripture we read about a worldly king asking his wife – Queen Esther, about her petition and fulfilling the same (Esther 5:6). If such is the case with a worldly king, you can imagine the level of concern that the King of Kings and God of Gods, will have to answer your prayers and fulfill all your petitions.
In order to offer up intercessory prayers on behalf of people and the nation, it is essential that your heart is filled with compassion. It is out compassion that our Lord Jesus performed many miracles. It is out of compassion, that He interceded for others and prayed to Father God (Gospel of John, chapter 17). When you are filled with that compassion of Christ in your hearts, then you will indeed rise up as great prayer warriors.
When you pray with intercession, Christ Jesus also stands besides you and takes up your prayer requests with Father God. The Scripture tells us: “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
Intercessory prayers warriors should never become weary if they do not see their prayers answered immediately, but they should rather pray without ceasing(1 Thessalonians 5:17). At times, the answers to our prayers may get delayed from a human perspective. But we should never cease from praying. God will definitely answer our prayers, even if it appears to be delayed. The God who has pity and compassion on you, is alive. Since he is also a prayer warrior, will he not help you and ensure that your prayers are granted?
Verse for further meditation: And Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you.” (1 Samuel 7:5)
