Nov 04 – CONFORMED TO HIS GLORIOUS BODY

who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself? (Philippians 3:21)

The body that we have in this world is so worthless, and it is prone to diseases, and given to fatigue, exhaustion and weariness. This is also the body which goes through considerable pain, suffering and moments of sorrows and agony. But our Lord conforms it to His own glorious body.

Such transfigured body will be like unto the resurrected body of Christ Jesus. Our corruptible bodies will put on incorruption and our mortal bodies will put on immortality. Apostle Paul writes thus in First John, chapter 3, verse 2: “…but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (1 John 3:2)

How glorious and wonderful is the resurrected body of Christ Jesus! In that body, He entered into the locked room where His disciples were gathered, blessed them with peace and parted from them. In the presence of His disciples, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus was taken up to heaven in that resurrected body and took His seat at the right hand of the Father.

Your bodies are transfigured by God, by His Spirit. You take food three times a day, in order to give strength to your physical body. At the same time, you feed on the word of God in order to transfigure the inner man. Our Lord compares the Word of God, to pure honey dripping from the honeycomb.

Similarly, He compares the anointing of Holy Spirit to bread, to fish and to egg. The inner man is strengthened with this spiritual food. In addition, He has also given us His blood and His body so that your body may put on glory upon glory, like that of His own resurrected body. When you eat the bread and drink the wine, the body of Christ Jesus is mingled with your body, and even without your knowledge your body continues to transfigure like unto His body.

Dear children of God, when Jesus Christ comes in all His splendour, in the glory of the Father, with all His glorious angels, your worthless bodies will be transfigured in an instant like unto His glorious resurrected body. Since your earthly bodies will put on heavenly bodies, you will all be taken up in heaven along with Him. O what a glorious experience that will be?
