Oct 17 – THE ANGEL AND THE DIVINE HEALTH!

“For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had” (John 5:4).
The speciality of Bethesda was that miracles happened there. Whenever the angel went down and stirred up the water, the first man with sickness to enter it will receive the miraculous healing.
The word ‘Bethesda’ gives the meaning ‘House of Mercy.’ That mercy was revealed by the angel. If that angel had been more compassionate, he would have come there often to stir the water and many could have got benefitted.
How long that angel would have continued to do that? Yes. He would have done that until Jesus Christ gave His life on the Cross. All our sicknesses and diseases were borne by Jesus Christ on the Cross. Since He is powerful to clear all our sickness and diseases through His stripes, the necessity for Bethesda has ceased. The angel also was not required to carry out that stirring job.
The Balm of Gilead, which is the blood of Christ, flows upon you when you look up to the Cross of Calvary during your times of weaknesses and sickness. This heals your sicknesses and diseases. The stripes of Jesus Christ touch you and heal you.
So, you need not run in search of the pool of Bethesda and wait for days there. Jesus Christ did not stop with bearing your sins on the Cross. He also has borne your sickness and diseases on the Cross. Our God is the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26). The Scripture says, “He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you” (Exodus 23:25). “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Mathew 8:17).
Dear children of God, God is rich in mercy and in divine healing. Look up to Him now itself. All your weaknesses and sickness will disappear similar to how the snow disappears once the sun rises.
To meditate: “But to you who fear my name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings” (Malachi 4:2).
