Oct 09 – HUMILITY AND BLESSING!

“Look to the…..hole of the pit from which you were dug” (Isaiah 51:1).
When God thought of creating Adam and Eve, He did not use gold or diamonds for the purpose but used mere clay. The Scripture says, “Look to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.”
In villages, most of the people use only clay for building their houses. People used to dig a pit nearby and make bricks with the clay taken out. They raise the walls with the bricks and plaster them with the same clay. They will go further by erecting windows and doors and they will be proud of the house built by them. But nobody thinks of the pit, which is the major resource in building the house.
In the same way, many people do not praise or seek God who had exalted them by blessing them with education and higher status. With pride, they say ‘I studied, I earned and I developed’. The Scripture says, “…not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he falls into the same condemnation as the devil” (I Timothy 3:6).
A thought that he is superior to God came into the wicked devil and he became proud. That is why he was pushed out of heaven. So, you should not take part in such pride and fall. Whenever such thoughts of pride arise in your mind, look at the hole of the pit from which you were dug!
A minister used to carry a box wherever he went. Some people complained to the king saying, “King, the minister carries precious pearls in his box and he always has it in his possession. He has amassed great wealth by cheating you.”
One day the king intercepted the minister on his way and asked him to open the box. When the box was opened only torn clothes were found in it. The minister said, “King, these are the clothes worn by me during my days of poverty. From that level, you have exalted me and made me a minister. With the thought that I should never feel proud and to always remember how poor I was in the past, I carry these things with me wherever I go.”
Dear children of God, when God exalts you, be humble before both God and men. Then God will exalt and bless you further and further.
To meditate: “Who remembered us in our lowly state, for His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:23).
