Sep 30 – SHALL BE HOLY!

“For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore, your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you” (Deuteronomy 23:14).

Your home should be neat and your life holy because God likes to walk into your camp. He wants to develop and bless you. He likes to bring down your enemies before you and to give victory to you.

What does the word ‘camp’ mean? Everything like family, home, employment and business, come under the term ‘camp.’ Holiness should be there in every part of your life that is the camp. God should not see any dirt anywhere. Some people will remain holy in their homes but will lead a dirty life in their business centres. They will appear holy in the church but not so in their personal life; holiness on one side and dirt on the other side.

It does not mean that by fasting and praying on a Sunday, one could live according to their will and pleasure on the other six days. A person cannot make amends by saying that he is so stubborn in staying holy in some part of his life can compromise the same in some other parts. God want your entire camp to be holy.

When the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness, God wanted to dwell among them and so commanded Moses to make a tabernacle. Just imagine how holy the place should be for God to dwell. That is why your entire camp must be holy.

Once, Jesus Christ wanted to visit the home of Zacchaeus. When Jesus comes, how can dirt be there? Zacchaeus might have removed all dirt from his home. He might have made his home suitable for Jesus to stay.

Dear children of God, is it not a must that your heart should be holy when God wants to dwell in it? How could God dwell and walk in your heart if you allow dirt, illicit relationships and bad friendship to enter into it? So, ensure that length, breadth and height of your camp is holy.

To meditate: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (I Corinthians 3:16).
