Sep 17 – GOD – ONE WHO HELPS!
“As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice” (Psalms 55:16, 17).
If there is one person to help you in this world, it is none but Jesus Christ. During times of problems, you are seeking help from men. But the Scripture says, “…the help of man is useless” (Psalms 108:12).
When my father passed his 12th Standard, the financial position at home did not permit him to go for higher studies. The reason is that my grandfather had retired from his job before that. In that situation, a friend of my grandfather promised to help my father in finding a job and brought him to Chennai. But that person did not fulfil his promise and went away. My father continued to search for a job on his own. All the money he had got exhausted.
A few days later, he was roaming with hunger in the sun and he unexpectedly met his cousin on the road. At that time, he was in a government job and was well to do. My father felt very happy on seeing him. He ran behind that cousin with the thought that all his problems and wanderings will come to an end. But, he also did not come forward to help.
With no one coming forward to help, my father was heartbroken. He bent his knees and prayed to God with tears. He firmly decided not to seek help from any man. He fully understood the truth that the help of man was useless. He began to seek God more. From that day, God began to make changes in my father’s life. He wonderfully helped my father to go for higher studies. Later he got employed as a maths teacher. After some time, God gave him employment in the Income Tax Department. God began to exalt him step by step.
Came a day and God called my father to His ministry. God helped him to write hundreds of Spiritual books in Tamil. God took him all over the world to proclaim the Gospel. God helped him in every way. Dear children of God, you also may be going through such situations. You also may lament that there is none to help. Look up to God and call Him. He will listen to your voice and come forward to help you.
To meditate: “For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper” (Psalms 72:12).
