Sep 04 – PEACE WITH GOD!
“…we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
What a great thing it is to receive peace from God! When you reconcile with God and receive peace from Him, all your problems will become nothing. How to receive peace from God? It is through Jesus Christ alone, one could get nearer to God, reconcile with Him and receive peace.
It is common to see a third person intervene and make efforts to bring peace when there is a dispute or fight between two persons. Such persons will unite the split families. A mediator is required to bring peace in this way.
Adam and Eve saddened God by their sins. The heart of God was wounded when they chose to listen to the serpent instead of God. The man lost the fellowship with God, the loving relationship and above all, he lost peace.
If you want to receive peace from God, the first thing you have to do is to confess your sins, repent for them and get them forgiven by God. How will the sins be forgiven? There is no forgiveness of sins without shedding of blood. Is it not? That is why Jesus Christ shed His blood on the Cross of Calvary and washed our sins.
Further, it is Jesus Christ who stands as a mediator and peacemaker between you and the Lord. He carries the cleansed man to the throne of grace. He enables man to reconcile with God through His blood.
It is this Promise which changed the life of Martin Luther. He had thus far seen God only as the righteous and the judge but one day he understood that God is also a mediator. When he knew the facts that Jesus Christ is one to bring in reconciliation between the Lord and man and the just shall live by faith, his joy knew no bounds.
Jesus Christ remains as a bridge between man and the Lord, similar to the bridge built to connect two separate hills. Surely, you are going to receive peace through the blood of Jesus Christ.
To meditate: “And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans 5:11).
