AUG 08 – BE VIGILANT!

“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into” (Mathews 24:43).

Until there is one thief roaming around, it is a compulsion for you to stay vigilant. Since your adversary devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour, you must stay alert.

Be very alert in protecting your holy life. Satan keeps on trying to create stains in your Spiritual life. Once the life of witness suffers a setback, it is impossible to set it right. The Scripture says, “…but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct” (I Peter 1:15).

A Spiritual church established by a pastor was growing day by day. In a very short span of time, it grew well and became famous. But that pastor was unable to maintain holiness in his personal life. In the end, the people removed him from the post of the pastor. The person who was the force behind the development of that church through years was not even allowed to preach there. Thus, he reached a pathetic end.

You must be vigilant in your Spiritual life. The Scripture says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8). Satan’s prime effort is to trap you by cunningly laying a net and make you fall into the pit. We have to stay vigilant and overcome the tricks of satan with the help of God. We need to pray every day, “God, protect us so that even the shadow of satan does not fall upon me.”

You have to be vigilant in praying too. Never despise the prayerful life. Do not put your time of prayer to waste. Jesus Christ said, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).

Dear children of God, vigilant life is a victorious life. If you stay alert, satan cannot get nearer to you. Defeat cannot overcome you. If you stay alert today, in the future you will remain as one to happily walk towards the bridegroom during His Coming.

To meditate: “Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober” (I Thessalonians 5:6).
