AUG 06 – HOLINESS THROUGH BLOOD!

“Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate” (Hebrews 13:12).

Think a little over the term “He might sanctify the people with His own blood.” God, who has deep interest and zeal over your holiness, willed to make you holy by pouring out His own blood. What a great sacrifice it is for the Lord to sacrifice His only begotten Son for the sake of your holiness!

He could have come forward to sacrifice thousands of angels. He could have dedicated the Cherubim and Seraphim as a burnt offering. He could have given the thousands of animals and birds in the world as a sacrifice. But, He gave His only begotten Son as a sacrifice. The Scripture says, “…the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (I John 1:7).

Look up to the Cross of Calvary every day for leading a holy life. Say repeatedly, “The blood of Jesus is victory.” Proclaim saying, “I have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.” Get strengthened by the blood and move ahead cheerfully with joy.

Once, satan tested Martin Luther saying, “Do not call yourself a saint. Look at the big sins which you have committed.” Saying this, he showed a list of sins. Indeed, those were the sins committed by Martin Luther. The list was a lengthy one containing both small and big sins. Martin Luther asked satan whether it was the final list or he had anything more. Satan brought one more list of sins.

Martin Luther picked a bottle of red ink from his table and threw it on the list brought by satan. The red ink spilled like blood all over the list of sins furnished by satan. In continuation, Martin Luther victoriously proclaimed, “Satan, I accept to have committed all the sins in the list. But the bloodshed by Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary for my sake has washed all my sins away. It has redeemed me.” With this, satan ran away with shame.

Dear children of God, who can judge you as guilty when God has washed and cleansed you, pouring His blood? Which man can judge you as a sinner? Even your conscience cannot judge you as guilty.

To meditate: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
