AUG 04 – DIVINE FEAR AND HOLINESS!

“…those who are called, sanctified by God the Father” (Jude 1:1).

God the Father makes us holy. Whenever we think of God, His strictness and commands touch our hearts. Yes, He hates dirt and stays zealous in remaining Holy.

You make an effort to move closely with God and see the experience. The fear about holiness will automatically rise in you. He is very strict. If you remain lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, He will vomit you from His mouth. The Scripture says that He is one who gets angry with the sinners every day.

He despises those people who stand before Him after doing dirty and disgusting things by living in lusts. He will condemn, “Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.” Yes, He remains a consuming fire.

Whenever you think of the holiness of God, the divine fear should come into your heart. He is glorious and awesome in Holiness. Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin” (Exodus 20:20).

Today, the reason for many believers to remain as sinners is the lack of divine fear in them. The knowledge of knowing the will of God is not in them. Their eyes do not have the vision to know that on a given day, they will have to stand in His presence. As the divine fear gets decreased, sins and lusts enter the life of a man and begin to rule him.

To whatever extent you live closer to God the Father, in proportion the divine fear will increase in you. Why was Joseph unable to sin? It is only because of the divine fear present in him. That divine fear protected him. Joseph said, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9).

No man who has the thought “The holy God is looking at me. How can I live with these dirty lusts? How can I face the wrath of God? What will happen to me if He disowns me and casts me out of His presence?” will sin. Dear children of God, divine fear alone could make you perfect in holiness. Paul the Apostle says, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (II Corinthians 7:1).

To meditate: “For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy” (Lev. 11:45).
